How many years did I cheat on my taxes? Damn, ran out of fingers
Tax cheat, Charley Rangel, now wants taxpayers to foot the bill for everyone to attend college. He says there is no reason that they themselves should pay. Just for the hell of it, let’s figure out what the cost would be.
In 2010, there were 30.7 million students.
The cheapest schools are public universities and in state tuition, which in 2010 was $7,605 per year.
Now, remember that not all students will go in state and not all will go to public schools. Out of state fees run an average of $4,000 extra, and private colleges average $27,500 a year. Medical school costs $22,000 a year in a public college and $50,000 in a private college. That means the 2233 plus billion a year would most likely be closer to 300 billion a year or 3 trillion in just 10 years.
Where does this money come from? Taxes. And low skilled workers will be paying taxes to educate the executives of the companies they work for. Sounds fair to me. And what kind of tax increase would be necessary to cover 300 billion a year? About 20%.
But Charley doesn’t care, he doesn’t pay taxes.
